Thirty-five lessons ask students to locate key cities and regions of the past and present, following power shifts and boundary changes from ancient Egypt to the Persian Gulf War. Designed to spark beyond-the-textbook research, each lesson includes two pages of teacher background, a reproducible map, and a reproducible handout with directions indicating how students should colour-code their maps (plus, often, short-answer questions for research). The activities are appropriate for reinforcement, review, testing, and extra-credit or homework assignments.

Revised before the political changes in the former Zaire. J. Weston Walch. 140 pages.
